In 2022 our very talented team earned a SILVER medal at the BC Summer games in Prince George and we are very excited to offer a new opportunity for players with birth years 2009 or 2010 to play at the 2024 BC Summer games in Maple Ridge, BC on July 18-21, 2024 .
The 1st tryout date will be Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 8 am - Noon at the Cloverdale Coverall, 176th and 62nd st, Cloverdale. The cost for the tryout camp will be $40.00. Please pre-register on the tryouts page.
The 2nd tryout date will be Saturday, December 9th, 2023 from 9 am - Noon at the Poirier Forum, 618 Poirier St, Coquitlam. If you attend and pay for the 1st camp the 2nd is free, otherwise it will be $40.00. It is recommended to plan to attend both camps as it will allow the coaches the most opportunity to see you!
The tryout fee is non-refundable. If you do not make the team this money will be used towards funding the team's participation at the games. We expect to carry as many as 20 players initially with this number being cut down to less than 15 in the spring. There will be some commitments outside of the games week itself to allow the coaches to work with the team and the players to bond! We will be working around club teams schedules.
We are pleased to announce that Hannah Dawkins has been selected as the head coach for the 2024 Zone 4 BC Summer Games team. Hannah was an assistant coach on the 2022 BC Summer games team and currently coaches on the U19A Cloverdale Fury 06 team. Her full bio is on the tryout page. Hannah is one of the youngest Summer games coaches and we know that will help her connect with her players and bring a positive, energetic outlook to the team. We are in the process of selecting the assistant coaches!
What is the time committment?
Answer: The commitment is generally pretty light at least initially. Outside of the tryouts (which are now posted) selected players will be expected to attend approx. 1 practice a month from January to June. We will likely have a few exhibition games set up, likely in the Spring and practices may increase in the weeks leading up to the game. Players will be billeted in Maple Ridge for the duration of the games and will have chaperones.
Where would the practices be held?
Answer: We are planning to use the Cloverdale Coverall for indoor practices. Outdoor practices will be wherever we can find fields!
What are the team fees?
Answer: We have the initial tryout fee ($40.00) all expenses (food, accomodation) during the games are covered by the games. There is a $250.00 per player BC Summer games registration fee for players selected to the team.
